Key competence – cold thread rolling
The 120 employees of Eichenberger Gewinde AG are assisted by several robots, which allow the company to meet the high requirements of its customers, seven days a week. In the manufacture of screws, the key competence is based on eight cold thread rolling machines, some of which are ultra-modern and NC controlled. The company also offers its expertise in this area by the realization of rolled threads as contract work and can satisfy all sorts of needs like up to 6 x diameter pitches, screws diameters from 2 to 160 mm, special profiles, multiple pitches and much more.

Why thread rolling?

  • Significant increase in hardness through cold forming
  • excellent surface smoothness on thread  flanks and in ground radius
  • reduced notch sensitivity
  • no interrupted swalfe as in machine-ground threads
  • excellent dimensional accuracy
  • rational manufacturing process
  • extremely cost-effective especially in large production batches

Delcam launches free CAM for SolidWorks

Delcam has launched a free version of its Gold-Certified Delcam for SolidWorks integrated CAM system for SolidWorks.  Delcam for SolidWorks XPRESS provides the essential 2D milling and drilling functionality available in Delcam for SolidWorks.
DFS Express_Eurotec
Delcam for SolidWorks XPRESS is intended mainly as an introductory level program for users that are new to computer-aided machining.  However, it will also be useful for companies, such as design studios, that only need to program simpler CNC machines or those that wish to experiment with 2D  machining before investing in a full 3D software package.

It can be downloaded free of charge from www.delcamforsolidworks.com/xpress.

Perfectly integrated
Users will be able to generate NC code for feature-rich 2D parts quickly and easily with the unique ‘feature-from-feature’ technology inside Delcam for SolidWorks.  Delcam for SolidWorks XPRESS is fully integrated into the SolidWorks environment, in exactly the same way as the full Delcam for SolidWorks software, so that the program looks and behaves like SolidWorks.  Similarly, it offers the same full associativity with SolidWorks so that any changes in the CAD model are reflected automatically in the toolpaths.

Same level of automation
The XPRESS version provides the same high level of automation as the full program.  The software automatically selects the appropriate tooling for the project, allocates the appropriate feeds and speeds to all the toolpaths, and orders the various roughing, semi-finishing and finishing operations into the most efficient sequence.

Many satisfied customers
Delcam for SolidWorks combines the benefits associated with Delcam’s PowerMILL and FeatureCAM CAM systems.  It is based on Delcam’s proven machining algorithms that are already used by more than 40,000 customers around the world.

Training videos for Delcam for SolidWorks XPRESS…
…are included on the www.delcamforsolidworks.com/xpress website, as well as on YouTube.  A forum for users has also established on the website, so that members are able swap tips on the use of the software.

The Speakers Corner is a free plateform for companies to present their skills to a targeted audience. In the complete interview (you can download it below) P. Roth gives us a few very good advice, don’t miss them.

Extract of the exclusive interview
You are organising the Speakers Corner again, what is it exactly?
We install a meeting point at the heart of the exhibition and we offer the opportunity for companies to showcase their expertise in 15 minutes. During the three days of exhibitions, we organize presentations from 10 to 12 hours and 13 to 15 hours. Every 15 minutes a new speaker takes place and enhances his business or his products. We offer a communication platform available to companies.

Are the themes free, are there constraints?
Each day has a different theme (see below). Apart from these guidelines, participants are totally free; they can talk about their products, their services, their company, innovation or other. We had based the concept in the same way last year and it worked well, we had a majority of presentations of quality and high value for visitors.

Swiss ST 26 CE arrives in Europe

Making its world debut at IMTS 2012, followed by DMP 2012 in China, the Swiss ST 26 was developed as a simple machine covering a wide range of requirements for the Asian and American markets. Building on its success in these markets, the company has decided to produce a CE version for Europe.

Available from June 2013 in the CE version, the machine will be on show at this year's EMO. Mr. Renggli, marketing manager, tells us: "Even though the machine does not require much in the way of training or support, it will not be offered with a discount service. As with the company's other products, training will be given in Moutier and at the European subsidiaries, and customers will benefit from Tornos's application support". A European stock of spare parts will enable the company to fulfil all orders quickly.

A European stock of spare parts will enable the company to fulfil all orders quickly.

Equipped with 7 axes, the newcomer will be positioned as a direct competitor to machines equipped with 5 or 6 axes, and available in the same price range. It completes Tornos’s mid-range offering, sitting between the EvoDeco, a flexible solution with excellent production capabilities, and the Gamma, a machine with proven performance in machining moderately complex workpieces.

A high-tech spindle
Entirely developed and produced in Moutier, the synchronous type spindle delivers 9.5 kW as well as super-fast acceleration and deceleration (from 0 to 10,000 rpm in 0.9 seconds). It is by far the most powerful and responsive machine on the market in this product category. Equipped with an integrated cooling system, the spindles contribute to the machine’s thermal stability. This results in increased precision.

Three offerings for three product categories
The Swiss ST 26 is offered as standard in three versions:

  • Starter,
  • Advanced,
  • Medtech.

These three packs include a variety of equipment suited to the type of workpieces to be produced. Depending on the requirements, the company can also supply additional equipment: chip conveyor, high pressure pump or oil mist extractor. Mr. Villard, product manager says: “We are obviously not in the same league as the EvoDeco in terms of the machining possibilities and options available, however for a machine with a price tag similar to that of our competitors, we are offering more flexibility and power”.

Tailor-made bar feeding solutions for the watch industry

The Swiss LNS Group, world market leader in automating machine-tools, introduces the “Tryton Watch Industry”  and  explains how one of the leading watch manufacturers optimizes its productivity.

LNS Watch_Eurotec
With highly successful bar feeder series both in the high-end and entry-level segments, LNS has been a world market leader for nearly 40 years.

Tailor-made solutions to optimize the production cycle of the clients – this is what the R&D teams of the Swiss LNS Group aimed for when developing the new Tryton Watch Industry. “We cooperate very closely with our customers, to analyse their specific requirements and develop products to increase their productivity”, says Samuel Ventron, LNS Europe Product Department Manager. The new bar feeder is dedicated to high precision lathes with a bar diameter range of 1-7mm. “The new Tryton is an optimized version of the Tryton 112 CNC. It is tailored to the needs of the micromechanics industry and watchmakers, with the same high-end performance and a competitive target price”, explains Mr. Ventron. “With the new Tryton Watch Industry, we managed to streamline and reposition the Tryton series.”

680 bar feeders for one of the leading manufacturers in the watch industry
The LNS Group started to supply one of the big players in the watch industry in the mid-1980s and has already provided more than 680 bar feeders for various production units. To further upgrade production efficiency, the customer ordered 50 Tryton Watch Industry bar feeders in order to maximize reliability while limiting functionalities to the requirements. This is why the company ordered 50 Tryton Watch Industry bar feeders. The first units are already in use, loading bars 24 hours a day and seven days a week, optimizing the production cycle.

LNS is going to exhibit at EPHJ in Geneva next week on booth D117.
