Delcam GmbH opens new office in Southern Germany

Delcam GmbH has opened a new office in Eislingen in Baden-Württemberg to further increase its sales in the southern part of Germany.  Delcam’s German subsidiary achieved record sales of software and maintenance in 2013 and, with the opening of the new office, is looking forward to even better growth this year.

The modern offices in the attractive location of Eislingen were purchased in early November, 2013.  They offer a pleasant working environment for the planned total of seven staff team that is now being recruited.

The opening of the new office is an important step to further develop the company’s business in southern Germany, where it is already seeing strong demand for its CAM and CAD systems, as well for its hardware-neutral inspection and reverse engineering software.

“The location in Eislingen is ideal in order to increase our local presence in one of the world’s strongest economic regions – the Stuttgart area,” says Robert Aulbur, Managing Director of Delcam GmbH.  “One important criterion in selecting the building was that our new office should have well-equipped classrooms.  Our customers in southern Germany can now benefit from Delcam’s full range of training courses, without the long journey to our headquarters in Obertshausen, near Frankfurt.”  In addition, the building in Schillerstraße 21 is located only a few minutes’ walk from the train station in Eislingen and so is easy to reach by train as well as by car.

“We are in the process of recruiting more experienced sales and support staff for the new office,” adds Robert Aulbur.  “Our plan is to develop the Eislingen office as a regional centre of excellence, providing the same high level of training and technical support that our customers receive from our Obertshausen headquarters.”

Complete product-range of gear tools

For some time, Gloor – the worldwide leading manufacturer of special SC tools with logarithmic relief grinding – has been able to produce the complete product range of gear tools using its new generation of special grinding machines.
gloor copie
The setup with the company’s own software guarantees that customers obtain perfect tools, which in turn ensure high-precision gear components. Thanks to Gloor’s own manufacturing process, the company is able to produce cutters with significantly more teeth and to facilitate a faster process and/or better surface quality for customers.

Logarithmic relief grinding
It goes without saying that these tools – as usual – feature logarithmic relief grinding which ensures that the cutting faces of the tools can be re-ground several times while retaining the exact profile shape! Gloor is in a position to measure its gear tools as well as all other form tools on its Mahr Acure 6-axis CNC measuring machine and to provide the relevant test reports.

The following gear tools can be produced

  • Solid carbide gear milling cutters
  • Solid carbide gear milling cutters with shank
  • Solid carbide hob cutters – involute, cycloidal and special shapes
  • Solid carbide conical gear cutters, tooth gap by tooth gap
  • Solid carbide bevel gear hobs
  • Solid carbide crown wheel cutters
  • Solid carbide 1-pass hob cutters
  • Solid carbide profile hobs
  • Solid carbide adjustable hob cutters
  • Solid carbide shaper cutters for internal gears.

The tooling solutions offered by Gloor can be discovered at Siams on booth A36/B27, Halle 1.2.

New range dedicated to watchmaking

The production of very small parts, in particular for watch movements, requires turning tools designed specifically for this type of machining. In 2012, Applitec launched a number of inserts dedicated to the watchmaking field, and demand has increased considerably since then. To such an extent, in fact, that Applitec is now launching a new complete range of turning tools for machining watch parts.

"The feedback from our customers has been very positive - they are delighted with the performance of these tools. They have asked us for numerous special features, and these requests have enabled us to create our standard range."
“The feedback from our customers has been very positive – they are delighted with the performance of these tools. They have asked us for numerous special features, and these requests have enabled us to create our standard range” says Pascal Kohler.

Watchmaking bar turners have increasingly requested specific dimensions and angles which have substantially exceeded those covered by the original offering. Technical manager Pascal Kohler explains: “With brazed hard metal tools, each bar turner would sharpen his or her tools as habit or requirements dictated, whereas nowadays they all request the same operations on our reversible inserts.” And although the company still offers special customised solutions, it has undergone significant rationalisation and now offers a wide range to cater for all needs.

A top range
The new range of dedicated watchmaking products is called Top-Watch, and draws on the strengths of the Top-Line range (reversible ground inserts) well known to users, notably the positioning and clamping system of the offset tooth inserts, which offers unparalleled rigidity compared to traditional clamping systems.

Really sharp edges
There are various treatments involving ultra-fine layers to prevent cutting edges from being rounded, but are they always enough? According to Mr. Kohler: “For extreme cases, we offer an insert with a coated blank, on which the tapers are sharpened after coating.” He adds: “The coating on the cutting surface prevents sticking, and the lack of a coating on the taper is not a problem. That means we can offer an ultra-sharp cutting edge.”

There are many more features to discover in the new watchmaking range. It is available in stock and will be on show at Siams in Moutier, on the Applitec stand, C15, Hall 1.2.

The Top-Watch range is perfectly adapted to the SwissNano machine, in terms of both the 8x8 cross section standard insert holder system, with which watchmaking type inserts are compatible, and the Moduline solution. Indeed, Applitec offers its specific Moduline tool holder system to SwissNano.

More efficient for its customers

Despite an uncertain global economic situation, Ventura Mecanics SA, the specialist for overhaul and retrofit of Escomatic machines, decided to bet on the future by opting for the construction of new premises.

In summer 2014 the company will reach a new level with its new premises.
In summer 2014 the company will reach a new level with its new premises.

The new building has been designed rationally and to better serves the company’s customers. Luca and Fabio Ventura, the young and dynamic Directors state: “The global demand for our very specific activity shows a strong potential and our current workshop does not allow us to answer with sufficient effectiveness”. To increase this capacity, a new building of 1200 m2 on an area of 3200 m2 will be operational from July 2014.

To go further
The range of machine tools proposed by Ventura Mecanics relies on Escomatic lathes boosted by specialists with, for instance, their Ventura patented spindle (12,000 rpm). Mr. Ventura says: “These new spindles are the result of dialogues with customers who are very demanding in terms of productivity and accuracy“. The aim is to meet everyone’s needs and propose innovative solutions.

New perspectives for the future
Ventura Mecanics has just developed two new machines that were remarked at the recent Simodec: first, the V6 Flexcam (an evolution of the Escomatic D6 machine) equipped with a servomotor, allowing to vary the speed of the camshaft by segments. Second, the V2 FlexFeed (based on Escomatic D2), equipped with the 12’000 rpm spindle and a numerical axis for material feed instead of hydraulic; which allows machining long workpieces in several straightening.

One of the priorities of Newemag is clearly French speaking Switzerland now and with their premises in Chavornay and Eschenbach, the company is close to the entire Swiss market and able to provide local, quick and efficient solutions. (We will come back on EPMT and the watch making solutions offered by Newemag later).

You can still visit the special day at Newemag’s in Eschenbach till 18h00 today.

Let’s see a few pictures…

For the day, the workshop has been transformed into a sympathetic meeting place where many people can sit and chat about machines and solutions.
