A good start of the year for Citizen, one of the world’s leading manufacturer of CNC sliding headstock lathes up to 32 mm diameter. A wide part of the 50’000 machines are used in Europe as approximately 30 percent the Japanese manufacturer production is sold to Europe.

The Cincom M32 V is currently the most powerful sliding headstock lathe offered by Citizen.
The first sliding headstock lathe of Citizen had been delivered in February 1971. Citizen was the first to offer a sliding head with a NC control lathes. Over the years the company has widely expanded its product range. Machines met the markets demands first with one turret, then with two, expanding the capacities of the machines to produce every kind of parts.
Many industries have recognized the advantages of sliding head Sliding head lathes are used today in the manufacture of small and complex precision parts. Primarily used in watch industry, these production means are reaching more and more industries as the the benefits of sliding head are discovered.
Efficient tools Thanks to fast moves up to 45 m/min, extremely short acceleration and brakes times of work axes, short changeover times of the tools on the turrets, and ability to work on both sides of the part simultaneously with up to three tools, Citizen machines are able to produce complex parts quickly and efficiently. Special high speed controls and macros contributes also for minimum of lost times.
Tailor-made solutions increase productivity For special applications, machines are upgraded with customer-specific additional components at the German central location in Esslingen. In this way, the economics of machines can again clearly increase. Most recent example of such an upgrade is a combination of high pressure unit and swarf conveyor with high-precision lathe that increased working capacities. With this Combistream solution, users can deep hole drill without any change. It minimizes tool wear, reduces tooling costs, improves the quality of surface and ensure the dimensional accuracy.
For 2010, Citizen plans a number of product innovations.
