High process reliability in cold forming threads in high-strength and heat-resistant steels

December 2014

Noris cold forming taps „Spanlos Neo HR“ allow a process-safe threading even in difficult to machine steels up to 1400 N/mm² tensile strength.

Noris Spanlos Neo HR with asynchronous pressing lands geometry for the machining of high-strength and heat-resistant steels up to 1400 N/mm2 tensile strength.

For this, Reime Noris developed a cold forming tap which can withstand high mechanical stress. The powder metallurgical substrate HSS-PS (HSSE-PM) and the special asymmetrical design of the pressing lands are the reasons. Optimal grinding and coating technologies guarantee low torque and perfect thread surfaces.

3 versions to choose from The customer has a total of three variants of the new HR-form tap available from stock: Without lubrication grooves for machining short blind holes and through holes up to 1,5xD thread depth. With lubrication grooves for machining blind and through holes up to 3xD thread depth. With lubrication grooves and internal coolant for machining deep blind holes up to 3xD with optimal lubrication.

With these tools Reime Noris giving users a particularly economical method of threading in demanding steel grades. Especially in mass production is the high process reliability, which is achieved through the cold forming process an immense advantage.
