At EPHJ Bumotec presents its new s100, a machining center with 3 linear axes and two machining spindles working alternatively. This new concept allows the machine to reduce tool changes to the minimum as the changes are doing in hidden time on one spindle while the other is working. Every spindle has its own tool magazine (up to 36 in total). A new concept in-between standard solutions Nowadays the productions of parts for watch movements are usualy done using a batch of single spindle (…)

What’s new at EPHJ/EPMT/SMT ?
This morning I discussed with Roland Gutknecht, Director of VFM machines. This company now solds highly accurate machining solutions for watch making and other microtechnological fields. On the booth we can discover several machines from Roku-Roku and Hasegawa. The director told me that these machines are now starting to sell well in the watch industry because of their precision. The new Android, micro precision micro fine machining center reaches accuracy as never seen before. Machining (…)

Standard components to form production systems
Usable flexibility through practical design and consistent modularity - for the efficient production of cookware, Fissler relies on standardised presses and pneumohydraulic drive technology from Tox Pressotechnik. Since cookware has developed from a simple cooking device to a more design, technology and function orientated consumer item, completely different demands are placed on it. These in turn can only be met by a comparably high material, production and quality assurance effort. (…)

5-axis competence and precision
Current discussions about 5-axis machining centres are ongoing. Whilst some sceptics claim that more challenging programming or higher demands on the machine and the control speak against the technology, insiders emphasise the benefits of faster machining resulting in savings potentials plus higher precision and reduced tool wear due to shorter milling paths. That is also why Heller placed the focus on this particular technology during WerkTage 2014, being already the 7th edition of this (…)

More options for surface finishing
At the EPHJ trade fair, Recomatic/Bula Technologie will be presenting several new products which meet specific customer needs, particularly for watchmaking customers. A few customers have already seen some of these new products and were favourably impressed by what they saw. So much so, that the company has even sold several machines before the official launch at EPHJ. We went to Courtedoux to meet Mr. Marco von Gunten, who has been Sales & Marketing Manager for the last 3 months. The (…)

SwissNano – The possibilities are endless
Despite its simple appearance, the SwissNano offers outstanding machining options and is the most flexible machine on the market. The machine owes its flexibility to a large range of options, but also to a good deal of ingenuity. Let’s see a few ones The machine’s 6-axis kinematics offers numerical settings in all dimensions. All users find that the counter spindle, with its 3 linear axes, is very comfortable to use. In addition to the counter spindle, the second platten can house tools (…)
