Peter Wolters acquires Micron Grinder Range (USA)

Peter Wolters GmbH, a manufacturer of high-precision machine tools headquartered in Rendsburg, Germany, today announced the acquisition of the Micron precision CNC grinder range, which is currently manufactured in West Springfield, MA (USA). Peter Wolters boasts a 200-year history of supplying market-leading lapping, grinding, polishing and deburring products for fine-surface optimization of metal, glass, ceramics, plastics and nano-range semiconductor materials for computer chips and LED lighting. This transaction adds a series of high-precision free-form 3, 4, 5 or 6 axis machine tools for Creep Feed Grinding and High Efficiency Deep Grinding (HEDG) to Peter Wolters’ existing portfolio.

Aircraft Turbine, Power Generation and Medical markets

Peter Wolters is already strongly positioned in the market for precision, flat surface machining solutions as well as precision Inner- and Outer-Diameter grinding applications via their Swiss Voumard range. Micron built a strong brand name in the turbine manufacturing market through superior machine tool technology in challenging, high precision grinding applications. Further markets for this grinding technology include consumer goods, automotive and the medical industry. Micron specializes in high quality, very rugged European design in combination with small system footprints, enabling the customers to easily integrate Micron systems in production lines with limited space or for small parts. Micron systems can be delivered with multi spindle setups as well as various work holding devices and automations.
