The world’s smallest precision boring head

April 2010

Demands from watch and micro manufacturing companies for higher accuracy and surface finish quality has lead to new task assignments for Machines and Machine Tool Manufacturers. Heinz Kaiser AG, the industry leader in manufacturing high precision boring tools for more than 60 years, is reacting to the demands of micro manufacturers with the world’s smallest boring head, the EWN 04-7.

.

The newest Kaiser head EWN 04-7, with a length of 14 mm and an outer diameter of 18.5 mm is the ideal boring tool for machines with a spindle size ISO 20, HSK-E25 and larger. The boring head with a range of Ø 0.4 – 7.0 mm is available with the CK1 modular connection or with a Ø10 mm cylindrical shank. Due to its compact build, low weight of 30 g, and its excellent construction, the boring head is guaranteed up to 30,000 RPM.

The ultra-accurate diameter adjustment is carried out via the permanently lubricated, precisely ground carrier spindle with an accuracy of 0.002 mm Ø. The tool carrier has an adjustable range of 2.3 mm Ø is indirectly clamped with a single clamping screw to ensure no distortion to the cutting diameter.

A total of 7 coated boring tools made of solid carbide are offered for the boring range of Ø 0.4 to 7 mm and boring depths of < 5D. The tools have a Ø 4 mm shank with a clamping flat for simple orientation and can be universally used for materials such as aluminium, brass and steel.
