The development of new products can sometimes become a puzzle for SMEs. Engineering related to product, process or documentation is great resources consuming and sometimes small businesses who have good ideas can simply not implement them. Isérables is a small mountain town and Mecatis is located just at the arrival of the cable car. With 350 sqm the premises include offices as well as prototyping and assembly dept. This four people company works with a network of independent professionals to offer its expertise in engineering to companies active in microtechnology. 80% of customers are located in the Jura Arc. Its first customer was Affolter technologies in Malleray. Mr. Vuadens remembers: " I worked at R&D with Affolter and when I decided to become independent, the management encouraged me and gave me my first mandate: the development of a loading device. As the results were very positive, our collaboration continues".

Prototypes assembly and more… In addition to all aspects related to research and development, Mecatis has its own premises intended for mounting of prototypes or small series in subcontracting. The company also offers opportunities for product testing and validation tests.
From need to functional product Subcontract all or part of one’s engineering on some projects may seem "dangerous" for SMEs, but this operation allows them to have specialized used punctually resources. Mr. Vuadens concludes: "The experience of our network allows us to allocate resources finely tuned to each project, we offer a clear and transparent process and of course our ethics ensures confidentiality. The perceived risk is a barrier, but once contact made and the customer informed in detail, this barrier vanishes" (and doesn’t exist anymore after a first success).
