A few companies have reunited their skills in the "Technical Synergies" association. The aim of this group of companies (that are not linked by any means but member of the association) is to bring more know-how to their customers. An event was organized today in La Neuveville, Switzerland. Obviously we were there. Report! Before the start of the show this morning. Everything was prepared to welcome visitors (also with excellent local specialties for meals and beverages). It was a first (…)

How Tectri wins on the market with Miyano BNE-51SY5
Founded in 1998, the company Tectri based in Court, in the middle of the historical cradle of high precision turning, decided to use fixed headstock machines to produce highly precise parts up to 51mm or more (and by the way, they are working with oil*). . 12 years ago, Newemag was the company’s first machine tool provider with one, then two and three… till six Miyano BNE machines. 10 years later, Tectri has started the replacement of the old machines, not because no longer efficient (…)

New Ø38 mm sliding head from Star
The new ST-38 from Star Micronics further develops the series of complex KNC-32 and SV-32 machines. The triple turret design allows users to capitalize on the capability of simultaneous machining. A machine for highly complex parts which is nevertheless easily programmed with a standard FANUC control system to exploit the machining possibilities for parts up to a diameter of 38 mm. 3 turrets allow almost limitless flexibility. They enable the ST-38 to machine turned parts which require up (…)

Two new 8-spindle lathes at AMB
Tornos offers a large range of automatic multispindle lathes with both 6 and 8 spindles and the company provides solutions which are perfectly suited to machining small diameters. Although machines with 6 spindles are perfect for machining diameters of 1 to 32 mm, producing complex parts at high output rates requiring more work stations has been limited to 24 mm - until now. With their new MultiAlpha and MultiSigma 8 x 28, Tornos is meeting this demand. Manufacturers, from the automotive (…)

Designed for Success…
To achieve high precision results, microtechology applications need to rely on powerful and reliable gears. This can be found in micromotors, aeronautics, medical devices or watch industry; these applications need gears or micro-gears of high precision and outstanding quality. There are several ways to cut such gears. We met Mr Graf, responsible for sales at Affolter (Malleray, Switzerland) which provides machines dedicated to the achievement of such gears. . Affolter benefits from an (…)

What if hard turning was the solution?
I Went to visit Wenk this afternoon and I discovered a very impressive way to produce high precision parts with a highly interesting return on investment. The Mazak Quick Turn 6G is a compact high speed high accuracy turning center and Wenk proposes it on hard turning configuration. This can’t replace grinding in all cases, nevertheless in many it’s simply an unbeatable way to produce parts! . On this picture we can see three tools. On the left the ID tool, in the middle the OD tool and (…)
