EPHJ just started
This morning, 825 exhibitors were ready to welcome the 20’000 expected visitors. At the press conference, the organisers presented the evolution of this highly specialised trade show. The Geneva show presents exhibitors from 12 countries. Visitors were from 43 countries last year and this one should be the same. Anyhow that’s not the number of visitors that makes all and the exhibitors I’ve discussed with this morning were already happy about their contacts. The show carries on till the (…)

Standard components to form production systems
Usable flexibility through practical design and consistent modularity - for the efficient production of cookware, Fissler relies on standardised presses and pneumohydraulic drive technology from Tox Pressotechnik. Since cookware has developed from a simple cooking device to a more design, technology and function orientated consumer item, completely different demands are placed on it. These in turn can only be met by a comparably high material, production and quality assurance effort. (…)

EPHJ-EPMT-SMT starts tomorrow
It is tomorrow in Geneva that this trade-show dedicated to watch industry, microtechnology and medical will open its door at Palexpo. We’ve met with André Colard and Oliver Saenger, the founders of the show, to catch the spirit of the event. If sometimes the distinctions between EPHJ (watchmaking), EPMT (microtechnology) and SMT (medical) are a little fuzzy in the minds of visitors, it is finally not very important; these three sectors work in close collaboration and synergies available to (…)

Mechatronics at the service of surgery
The focus on the next Micronora will put the light on micro-mechatronics. In this context, many innovative SMEs will go to demonstrate their know-how through mechatronic products in Besançon from September 23 to 26, 2014. (Vous pouvez télécharger cet article en français ici). Aware of the importance to announce this event, the organizers of Micronora have implemented many means of communication and we had the chance to be in. Today, we introduce Dextérité Surgical who developed a (…)

5-axis competence and precision
Current discussions about 5-axis machining centres are ongoing. Whilst some sceptics claim that more challenging programming or higher demands on the machine and the control speak against the technology, insiders emphasise the benefits of faster machining resulting in savings potentials plus higher precision and reduced tool wear due to shorter milling paths. That is also why Heller placed the focus on this particular technology during WerkTage 2014, being already the 7th edition of this (…)

The world’s first lightweight industrial robot at EPHJ/EPMT/SMT
LBR iiwa – intelligent industrial work assistant – is KUKA’s new lightweight robot. Equipped with industrial duty mechanics and drive systems, it is sensitive, yielding, precise, flexible and can be used to automate delicate, complex assembly tasks that were beyond the capabilities of robots to date. Design based on the human arm LBR iiwa has seven axes and was designed to replicate a human arm. It can be operated in position and yield control mode, and thanks to integrated sensors, the (…)

More options for surface finishing
At the EPHJ trade fair, Recomatic/Bula Technologie will be presenting several new products which meet specific customer needs, particularly for watchmaking customers. A few customers have already seen some of these new products and were favourably impressed by what they saw. So much so, that the company has even sold several machines before the official launch at EPHJ. We went to Courtedoux to meet Mr. Marco von Gunten, who has been Sales & Marketing Manager for the last 3 months. The (…)
