A full house at OrthoTec Europe 2011

October 2011

The Zürich trade fair that showcases orthopaedics design and manufacture is building on its success. At the end of OrthoTec Europe 2011, the combined trade fair and congress for the orthopaedics sector, organisers, exhibitors and visitors united in giving a hugely positive verdict.

Aurore Domange, Event Manager for organisers UBM Canon, explains: “The event was successful in every respect. It is clear from my countless conversations with exhibitors, guest speakers and visitors that, in only its second year, OrthoTec Europe 2011 is already highly regarded within the orthopaedics industry and an important fixture in the calendar.”

Great success Such positive feedback is reinforced by the closing figures and data from the event: up to 900 industry visitors - business executives, technical managers and highly qualified design engineers - from about 15 different countries converged on the booked-out exhibition hall in Zürich for the latest information on industry trends and developments provided by the 75 companies (up from 70 the previous year) who exhibited at OrthoTec, all of them top suppliers to the orthopaedics sector. Demand this year was so high that all the available stands had been allocated by the beginning of August, almost 2 months in advance. As a result, more space will be available for exhibitors at the same venue next year.

Added value presentations Visitors benefited greatly from the concurrent talks and presentations in the conference hall, where the 200 seat auditorium was almost invariably full. For Aurore Domange this is a ringing endorsement of the choice of topics and the calibre of the speakers, who provided concise and expert analysis of market trends, new production technology and materials, quality management and orthopaedic device and implant design. “Where else could you obtain all that information in such concentrated form?”, asks UBM’s Event Manager, and she adds: “I was particularly impressed by the lively and intensive discussions our visitors had in the breaks with our expert speakers and exhibitors on the most challenging technical subjects.” Her assessment that the OrthoTec public is extremely highly qualified is confirmed by the feedback from exhibitors, who were pleased to be involved in so many knowledgeable and focussed discussions.

Time to think about next issue UBM launched OrthoTec Europe in 2010 as a combined trade fair and conference for the innovative European orthopaedics sector, and the success of last year’s and this year’s events ensures that it will convene again in Zürich from 12th to 13th September 2012.
