AMB 2018: New dimensions

February 2017

A successful AMB in 2016 resulted in great satisfaction among the 1,469 exhibitors from home and abroad. This was confirmed in the exhibitor survey. Exhibitors awarded the event an overall mark of 2.2 while 90% of them were intending to recommend AMB to other people. However, the discussions revolved around one topic: the construction of the new Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10), which will increase the gross exhibition area of Messe Stuttgart to 120,000 square metres, and the related thematic hall planning for AMB 2018.

"With the construction of the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) we can finally respond to our exhibitors’ desire for growth. As things stand at present, AMB 2018 in Stuttgart will occupy the entire trade fair grounds right from the start," said Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, President of Messe Stuttgart, formulating the expectations.

The focal points of the exhibited products and services will not change. As a result of the increase in exhibition space, AMB 2018 will also primarily feature metal cutting processes using machine tools and precision tools. One unique new aspect: the "Digital Way“ which will present digital methods in production in the ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart. "Exhibitors and visitors are becoming increasingly preoccupied with the digital transformation at every level. The new section "Digital Way“ in the ICS will show specific application examples and will examine best practice from industry in the Congress programme," explained Gunnar Mey, Department Director Industry at Messe Stuttgart.

During the last AMB the project managers provided details of the thematic hall planning at an information desk and collected stand placement requests from exhibitors. The AMB website features a film containing extensive information on the new site plan. Exhibitors now have until 30 June 2017 to submit their registration form and stand placement requests. The positions of the exhibition stands will then be determined by February 2018. The starting signal for AMB 2018 has been given.
