BASELWORLD REGAINS THE CONFIDENCE OF THE TECHNICAL SECTOR.

February 2020

Following the strong development of the Gems & Pearls sector (+50% from the next edition in 2020), it is the Technical Sector’s turn to double its number of exhibitors with major players once again joining the Baselworld community.

The Technical Sector was completely absent from Baselworld in 2018. Rebuilding trust, going out into the field for many months to meet, listen and understand, in contact with companies in the sector, repositioning offers to better meet their expectations whilst always keeping a pragmatic control of costs, is a long-term endeavour that began with the 2019 edition of the show and demonstrates Baselworld’s solid willingness to re-establish relations with the worlds of industry and subcontracting.

Production of components and movements, manufacture of machines and tools, suppliers of professional equipment, suppliers of after-sales services, research and development... the next edition of the exhibition is already seeing a doubling of exhibitors in the technical sector, with nearly 30 major companies returning, all of which will henceforth be grouped together in Hall 2.0 at the heart of the show’s flows.

Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld comments:
« The technical sector is back at Baselworld. I am very pleased to rebuild bonds of trust with companies in a professional sector that is vital to watchmaking and jewellery. The work is not over. Baselworld is the world’s leading industry gathering, and it is crucial to enhance the role of all its players. I intend to restore the technical sector to its rightful place, accompanied by a long-term vision of its presence and the promotion of its activities to the entire community. »

Baselworld is intended to be communal and resolutely unifying. Listening, dialogue, entrepreneurship and creativity, Baselworld is continuing to implement its 2020+ strategy and is working to be not only the best business platform in the industry, but also the most varied and comprehensive as possible.
