Boost productivity in roughing and finishing with new Widia Victory™ turning grades

December 2011

New high-performance Widia Victory™ turning grades, part of the Widia Victory platform of advanced turning, milling, and holemaking tools, are delivering higher productivity results, including improved surface finishes and longer tool life, for turning steel and stainless steel parts. The benefits are lower manufacturing costs for users.

Three new grades, WP15CT, WP25CT, and WP35CT, are aimed at users that want extended tool life and improved turning productivity in producing such steel parts as gears, pump housings, axles, and transmission components in the general engineering and automotive industry. Three additional new grades, WM15CT, WM25CT, and WM35CT, are targeted for shops machining stainless steels for medical, chemical, food, and energy components. For both families, a multilayer MT-CVD/CVD TiN-TiCN-Al203-ZrCN coating improves wear resistance for increased speeds and reduced cycle times. A ZrCN top layer reduces friction for improved surface finish and also functions as an indicator for flank wear.

New category of performances “With these new families, customers can keep cutting parameters the same and produce more parts from each tool,” says Scott Etling, Widia product manager. “Or they can increase their speeds and feeds and cut cycle times and improve deliverability in a pinch. These tools provide an excellent combination of durability, toughness, and improved performance for customers.”
