Yesterday at the 40th anniversary celebration of Midest, a round table and debate took place regarding “subcontracting at the dawn of 2020”. The attendees coming from industry and political world were amazingly well on the same wavelength, subcontracting in France is at the start of bright days.
In France, 97% of companies are less than50 people big. The strength of these SME’s can be found in their passion and innovation (amongst other things). According to the debate, there are a few elements that make this future bright, for instance:
- Innovation
- Customer orientation
- Work together to go abroad (skills networking)
- Willingness to go further
- Fair business between subcontractor and their customers (this seems to be a hot topic here)
- …
The industrial fabric of France SME’s is well prepared for that future. There are a lot of tools (and money!!!) available, but companies have to all the same do the first step. Magic doesn’t occur in the real life and they must ask their professional associations to be helped. Conclusion is that internationally, the innovation’s skills of France are a huge asset.
All in all there is nothing new in term of strategy, but sometimes it’s difficult to see things clearly while working hard under pressure… professional associations are there to help.
