Despite the uncertain global economic situation, Schaublin Machines SA has decided to bet on the future by opting for the construction of a new plant. This new building will be erected in Bevilard, the historical city where the first Schaublin plant was built in 1926 (the company is still there).

Friday February 3, by minus 15 degrees, a ceremony reunited the authorities, the Board of Directors, the CEO of the company as well as the architects in order to officially present the project and start shoveling! The duration of the work is estimated to 10 to 12 months.
A few facts about this new building This new plant will take place on a 10’000 sqm ground, and its operational surface will reach approximately 9’000 sqm. The dimensions of this new plant will be 110 meters in length, 76 meters wide and 12.7 meters high. The building will consist of a floor for production and assembly, while the offices will be built on 3 floors. A second parcel of 4’900 sqm will be reserved for parking and a storage building for equipment maintenance facility.
Let’s be rational I discussed with members of the board and they told me that the surface is more or less similar to the actual size of the company but as the today’s plant is using the 1926 buildings that were modified, increased, transformed… the place is like a labyrinth and even if the new plant is not significantly bigger, the surfaces available will be!
Good reasons By that decision, the Board of Directors and the management of Schaublin Machines SA intends to:
- improve working conditions for its employees
- improve the image of the company by having a building in line with its high-precision products
- better organise logistical flows
- reduce energy consumption by ecological concern
- better use of available spaces
- and indeed be totally reactive to market solicitations
