New “MedtecLIVE” exhibition to be launched

April 2018

UBM and NürnbergMesse plan to combine their exhibition expertise in the medical technology sector in Nuremberg, starting from 2019. The premiere is planned for 21 to 23 May 2019 in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities.

UBM, world leading exhibition organizer, and NürnbergMesse, one of the fastest growing exhibition companies in Europe, have announced today their intention to launch a new medical technology exhibition, MedtecLIVE. From next year, the new exhibition will replace the previous formats, Medtec Europe (in Stuttgart) and MT-CONNECT (in Nuremberg). The plan for collaboration has been submitted to the German Federal Cartel Office for review and is therefore pending, subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. Provided that the outcome of that review is positive, NürnbergMesse and UBM will combine their experience and knowledge of the medical technology sector, providing increased value to their audience via a stronger platform that champions networking with industry experts and showcases cutting edge medical innovations.

John van der Valk, Managing Director of UBM EMEA Amsterdam, sees this as the right step for delivering genuine added value to customers: “As per the current proposal, the advantage of MedtecLIVE will be that all important national and international players in the medical technology industry will come together in one place. This will save time and money for our customers and provide a 360-degree view of the entire industry.” Dr Roland Fleck, CEO of the NürnbergMesse Group, sees this as a logical consequence: “It makes us proud that MedtecLIVE shall take place in Nuremberg as of 2019. Conveniently located in the heart of two of the strongest medical device manufacturing hubs in Germany, Baden Wurttemberg and Bavaria, MedtecLIVE is set to provide the European platform for the medical device industry.” Peter Ottmann, CEO of NürnbergMesse Group like Dr Roland Fleck, underlines the choice of Nuremberg for MedtecLIVE: “Creating this new event here indicates how attractive Nuremberg is for international trade shows and conventions. We look forward to MedtecLIVE in 2019!”
