Nice design, cutting-edge efficiency

October 2010

The new LEM 2 laser engraving machine premiered at Micronora (France) by Laser Cheval is not only extremely attractive thanks to its eye-catching design; its technical characteristics and ergonomics make it a superb engraving and cutting tool for microtechnology applications.

Are you considering or engraving or cutting using laser technology? Talk about it with Laser Cheval. Laser Cheval will be at Midest Paris, Hall 6, Aisle K, Stand 75

What strikes the eye first of all is its beautiful design; this machine has restrained elegance, while the guard that pivots around its large, green eye sets it apart from any other machine in the marketplace. But the LEM 2 is not just visually attractive, it is ergonomic too – never before has a laser engraving machine offered such easy access to the working area, nor such flexibility. Sales manager David Fargette: “From a sales point of view, the machine’s appearance is important, but it can’t afford to be attractive to the detriment of the ergonomics or the technical characteristics.” Site manager Dominique Cilia adds: “With the LEM 2, we’ve succeeded in combining technical evolution with design.”

Marking, decorating – and cutting The machine is simple to use whatever the type of workpiece. For example, rotating workpieces are held by the rotating unit which, when not in use, simply glides out of the way, rapidly available whenever needed. The camera system identifies the workpiece position, so the operator can be sure that engraving is done right where required. The focal length is easy to change if need be. The principal fields of application of the LEM 2 are marking, decorating or even cutting small to medium-sized series of workpieces a few tenths of a millimetre thick.

Subcontracting and know-how Laser Cheval earns around one-quarter of its turnover from subcontracting – the perfect opportunity to acquire exceptional expertise, which is then incorporated into the LEM2. The company’s specialists are well aware of the problems that can arise during engraving and cutting operations. For customers buying a Laser Cheval machine, this is an important guarantee of glitch-free processing. On the issue of “competition” with customers, David Fargette is absolutely clear: “Our subcontracting work is done locally for the most part: we’re not in competition with our customers. Not only does this activity allow us to acquire greater expertise day after day, for our customers it’s a temporary solution or a helping hand if their workload is too great, for example.”

We will go into deeper details in our next issue of Eurotec.
