Small but long: the new deep hole drills from Mikron Tool

August 2010

Requirements on productivity increase and at the same time costs must be reduced. Not easy when deep holes are involved and a conventional deep hole drilling system shows acceptable results, but the drilling process is technically demanding and time and cost is substantial.

.

Mikron Tool SA Agno presents at AMB 2010 in Stuttgart for the first time a new small drill, within the well proven CrazyDrill product range, with cutting lengths of 15 x d, 20 x d and 30 x d, starting from diameter 1 mm and 40 x d, starting from diameter 2 mm! For this new product the Swiss tool manufacturer has developed a new cutting geometry to meet the particularly challenging conditions of deep hole drilling perfectly.

New design The result is a ingeniously designed drill, which produces short chips with all steel alloys. Working with hole depths of 40 x d this is a indispensable condition for a trouble free evacuation of the chips. The drill is designed to reach the full depth without pecking in one single stroke. Thus allowing highest speeds and feeds. With the aid of through tool internal cooling the cutting conditions at the tip are perfect and a good tool life is guaranteed.

A few examples A convincing feature, which justifies the use of the extra long CrazyDrill Cool is its performance. The following practical examples show the potential of the new CrazyDrill Cool:

Micron Tool will exhibit the new CrazyDrill tools at AMB Stuttgart onHall 1, Stand D15 (amongst other novelties).
