Scalia deploys its 3D printing skills and aims to become the new ally of personalized surgery

November 2018

To recreate as faithfully as possible the complexity of a human organ, to enable the surgeon to prepare his preoperative procedures, this is one of Scalia’s ambitions.

Synthetic renal artery

This ultraviolet resin polymerization technology makes it possible to manufacture organs with biomechanical properties similar to those of a human organ. Not limited by the hardness of the material, the textures and densities of the diseased organ are reconstructed from a patient’s medical imaging.

A high added value solution that "contributes to the therapeutic decision in the field of kidney transplantation", says Prof. Kleinclauss, head of the Urology, Andrology and Renal Transplantation Department at the Besançon University Hospital.

Personalized medicine offers real development potential and other collaborations could be considered in cardiac or maxillofacial surgery and rhinoplasty.

About Scalia Scalia, a subsidiary of Cryla Group (25) was created in January 2018. An agile structure, at the heart of an ambidextrous organization, Scalia offers a range of complementary technological skills in the field of prototyping and rapid manufacture of multi-material functional parts in small series (5-day lead time, from 1 to several hundred parts). The fields of application are vast: luxury, medical, automotive, aeronautics, innovative industries.

Scalia supports innovative companies in the development of new products, in the acceleration of time-to-market or in the management of the end of series of certain products.

To date, Scalia relies on innovative technologies such as 3D multi-material plastic printing, water jet cutting with clearance correction, vacuum molding from a silicone mold and 5-axis machining, while ensuring that it offers ever greater innovation. The company has 4 employees and generates a turnover of 300 K€.
