Trade show

For five days, AMB Stuttgart becomes a magnet for the metal-cutting and metal-removing world.

September 2018

With 1,553 exhibitors from 29 countries, AMB has excelled itself again. Although now totalling a gross total area of 120,000 square metres, the Stuttgart trade fair grounds are fully booked. Messe Stuttgart expects AMB to attract around 90,000 trade visitors.

AMB provides important stimuli
Growing demands for digitisation, a shortage of skilled workers, but also increasing quality standards are just some of the challenges currently facing the metal working industry. AMB visitors will benefit from a unique transfer of knowledge, valuable stimuli and answers on how to best tackle the challenges ahead. The top-class AMB supporting programme is studded with many highlights. Trade visitors will enjoy an overview of current trend topics at a special show, the "Metal working innovation tour" by the Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools (PTW) of TU Darmstadt. In Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) innovation leaders in the machining sector exhibit their path-breaking products and thus offer solutions for machining in the future.

Inspiring the next generation for the metal working industry and impressing it with the positive energy in this sector is the mission of AMB, which it fulfils in the shape of various activities. The World Skills Germany competition, the national qualifying stakes for talented machinists and mechanics, for instance is staged at AMB. The winners of the CNC milling, turning and, for the first time, also polymechanics disciplines may be selected for the German national team at the 2019 World Skills World Championships in Kazan (Russia). As Ulrich Kromer adds: "The supporting programme is rounded off by many talks, theme days and forums. The diversity and quality is unique, and it would not be possible on this scale without the major commitment of our exhibitors and partners. Our thanks therefore go to all those that help us make AMB such a unique event."

Focus on digitisation
Digitisation in production is a focus across all halls, at the Digital Way special show and related congress. "Digital Way is based on three pillars. The centrepiece is the trade congress with 36 exclusive talks by well-known speakers on the subject of digital business processes and models", says Kromer. The second pillar takes the form of an extensive accompanying expo with around 30 exhibitors. As Kromer comments: "Visitors and corporate digital officers can find out about innovation solution approaches, thus enabling them to identify and make the most of the potential offered by digitised production." Last but not least, Digital Way includes two interactive showcases at the East Entrance. "The Gewatec Learning Factory and Elabo Smart Factory let visitors experience connectivity at first hand," says Kromer and sums up: "Everyone talks about Industry 4.0 – at AMB, we show you how it can work."
