GF Machining Solutions - New name from January 2014

December 2013

On January 1, 2014, GF AgieCharmilles will become GF Machining Solutions: the name change underscoring the fact that Georg Fischer AG (GF) is a unified company with three divisions. GF AgieCharmilles today offers worldwide one of the industry’s most diverse portfolios, including Milling, EDM, Laser, Spindles, Tooling, Automation, and Customer Services.

GF Machining Solutions is the partner of choice to discerning customers across a wide range of industry segments. The company enables mold and die production for electronic components, automotive, information and communications technologies, and home appliances. In parts production, GF Machining Solutions strengthens aerospace and aeronautics, automotive and motorsports, medical technology and watches and jewelry.

The new name emphasizes the Division’s positioning as a global solutions provider. At the same time, the name change represents an opportunity for the Division to communicate its role as an extension of its customers’ expertise and capacity, and conveys the GF’s customer centric mission: GF is all about customers! The name GF Machining Solutions is easy for existing and potential customers to remember and represents an opportunity for the Division to communicate that it is far more than a supplier of machine tools.

To change, yet keep the divisions assets Along with the name change, customers will notice the gradual implementation of a new design style on the GF Machining Solutions website and sales literature. The new design is aimed at conveying diversity, unity and innovation. What will not change are the terms of existing agreements with customers and the names of the Division’s legal entities. Since the brands AgieCharmilles, Mikron, Step-Tec and System 3R have high value, the Division will continue to use these names on the respective products. A new product naming system is in development and will be introduced in the first half of 2014.

To simplify the transition for customers, the change of division e-mail addresses will be transparent, and current GF AgieCharmilles e-mail addresses will be active until December 2014. As of January 2014, the existing Division website will automatically redirect to a new URL, ensuring that the website is as accessible as ever. There will be no changes in telephone numbers.
