Still one day to take advantages of the Stuttgart exhibition park and discover targeted solutions in terms of machines, tools, peripherals or coolant (among others). The place has been well crowded the whole week and the organisers expect 90’000 visitors. (We at Eurotec have fetched a lot of valuable information we will forward to you here and on our paper issues). Today, a piece of news from Sandvik. Extended steel turning endurance Tooling and tooling system specialist Sandvik Coromant (…)
The Swiss tooling manufacturer presents its new cooling concept on drills and mills. The coolant through the shank provides an efficient cooling to the point of the tool. The result is a reliable process and an increceased productivity. Cooling channels are integrated into the carbide shaft. Coolant ports are at the end of the shaft taper where they produce a steady and massive cooling effect of the cutting edges which facilitates in turn high cutting speeds. A targeted flushing of the (…)
The SSXA and SSXC tool systems from the Dieterle tool manufacturer’s range are technically perfected and tested. They are designed for use on automatic turning machines, in particular sliding headstock versions, and offer excellent day-to-day performance thanks to their wide range of applications and practicality. Two complementary systems The dual cutting edge inserts used on the SSXA system are fixed laterally in the perfectly-formed housing in the tool holder. The dual cutting edge (…)
Increased productivity. Is there anyone who is not familiar with this overused buzz word? However, it clearly indicates how great the demand for more efficient production and shorter throughput times is. Hainbuch announces the expansion of its modular system (to be seen at the next AMB). Whether for series production or for single-piece manufacturing, complex parts, increasing costs for energy and materials, as well as delivery times that are becoming shorter and shorter, these factors (…)
To address the issue of requiring multiple, dedicated cutters in the toolchanger of a machining centre to create different component chamfers, Sandvik Coromant can now offer CoroMill 495®, a universal tool which ensures machine shops only require a single chamfer cutter to perform various chamfering operations. This not only creates extra space in the toolchanger but minimises tool inventory and costs. Most engineering components require at least one chamfer, and because the majority of (…)
On the occasion of the release of its new catalogue, Conceptools SA presents a widely expanded range and opens its catalogue to turning and high precision turning cutting diamond tools. Other novelty, diamond tools have been standardised. Meeting with Mr. Millet, the Director of this innovative SME. Conceptools has always offered cutting tools in natural diamond, PCD milling tools, micro-milling cutters in carbide, centering and drills in carbide as well as circular cutters. On the (…)
When machining complex parts made from expensive materials, secure performance is clearly vital. With this in mind, cutting tool specialist Sandvik Coromant has introduced a range of small CoroMill® Plura thread milling cutters designed to counter the threat of tool breakage and component damage associated with conventional taps. The advantages of thread milling compared with tapping are well documented. For example, a thread mill can address a range of hole diameters instead of just one (…)
Manufacturers or machine shops needing a specific corner radius or a cutter with a special tool length to keep overhang to a minimum, can now take advantage of the new Sandvik Coromant Tailor Made offer for CoroMill® Plura end mills. Anyone machining ISO N (aluminium) workpieces can easily acquire customized solid cutters to fit specific application requirements. Many specific aluminium component challenges exist in sectors such as aerospace and motorsport. Here, parts are often extremely (…)
Challenges and available resources in the metalworking field are constantly evolving. New application methods and tooling systems are being introduced to optimise and update working practices. Below is a presentation of the new Multidec-Lube device recently unveiled by well-known manufacturer Utilis. Bar turning specialists are some of the most meticulous technicians and operators in the field of metalworking. Every day they must demonstrate their competence in terms production tools and (…)
When milling stainless steel there are many challenges to overcome, including difficulties with chip formation, tool life and productivity. The latest insert geometries for CoroMill 345® have been designed specifically to offer the light cutting action and low forces required to surmount such challenges. Numerous benefits include not only higher metal removal rates and greater throughput, but the ability to use CoroMill 345 on small taper machines (ISO 30 and ISO 40 machines), in vibration (…)
