Trade show

To facilitate business in France!

January 2011

Imagine… a region of France where more than 125’000 people work for the mechanics. Imagine… one of the most important industrial areas of Europe. Imagine… a specialized trade show in the heart of this region of extraordinary potential. Imagine… your arrival at the station. A warm welcome, a clear signposting, carpet which leads directly to the tube which drives you towards exhibitions ground. Imagine…. Imagine a shuttle coming to pick you up at home within a radius of 100 km around the event. Imagine… 700 exhibitors. Imagine… a human size exhibition where all conditions are set to facilitate meetings between buyers and sellers. Welcome to Industrie Lyon. Meeting with Sébastien Gillet, Director of the Lyon industry exhibition to be held from 5 to 8 April 2011.

A new team is active in the Organization of industrie Lyon. Can you tell us a few words about this team? Our team is specialized in the realization of trade shows, both for industry and general public. Before industrie Lyon, we have been responsible for the agri-food exhibition CFIA in Rennes. We still manage that event. We arrive with a wide know how of organizing a verticalised trade show. With industrie Lyon, we duplicate the success of CFIA. We know that the context is not the same, Industrie Lyon is a transverse event. However, the two events are industrial fairs and we are confident.

Often with a change of leadership, the reflex is "to clean the slate". How do you see the work of your team in this context? We have a highly oriented market approach. Certainly we have extensive experience, but the latter has taught us to be responsive to the markets. Our main concern is to provide an effective tool for our exhibitors and visitors. Then yes, we question the functioning of industrie Lyon, but in the same way we question our experience.

You speak of questioning. What are the innovations which visitors and exhibitors can expect? […] For visitors, we will organize a shuttle within a radius of 100 km around Lyon. For users of public transport, we also simplify their trip with clear signposting and information. For technology zealots, an iPhone application will be launched soon. The aim: provide useful information in a playful way. In terms of information, we also set up a system of targeted newsletter aiming to release "the right information on the proper target". Using targeted information and taking care of our customers properly are measures who have proven their values in Rennes… and it is also common sense.

[…]

In a few words why exhibiting in industry Lyon? In addition to the above mentioned potential and our commitment to maximize the number of qualified visitors, we know that being part of a trade show weighs heavily on budgets of exhibitors. We are negotiating with companies supplying booth infrastructure to offer turnkey solutions at very reasonable prices. The overall industrial market seems to be showing signs of recovery and to be present in the heart of the French industry at industrie Lyon is consistent.
