Best selling 4-axis machining centre

October 2012

For users planning to invest into a highly productive 4-axis machining centre, Heller’s H series has been first choice since its premiere at EMO 2007. Since then, 650 machines of the series have been sold including more than 360 machining centres model H 2000.

At AMB 2012, Heller in co-operation with the Institute of Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools (PTW) of Darmstadt University impressively demonstrated the high productivity and quality of the machine. Under the motto “Innovations tour Metallbearbeitung“, the outstanding milling performance and extreme load capacity of machining centre model H 2000 was demonstrated by example of aluminum machining.

How to choose the right machine The so-called “killer matrix” of a user illustrates that the focus is more on manufacturing-relevant aspects such as machine build, pallet magazine, traversing paths, process dependability, high productivity and precision. In these terms, the H series scores with a very robust build, high basic accuracy and a twin-drive in the Z axis ensuring symmetric force application and free chip fall plus a significant reduction of the “drawer effect”. The precision provided by all machine sizes is also ensured through reduced table deformation and high precision due to internally arranged drives. The H 2000 provides high productivity and minimal axes positioning times resulting in reductions in machining times.

Tool management: total choice Another significant benefit of the machine, especially in terms of automation, is tool management. The H series is available with a chain-type tool magazine with storage capacities for 54, 80, 160 or 240 tools and a rack-type magazine with more than 400 storage places enabling tool loading parallel to machining. The machining centre model H 2000 presented by Heller at AMB 2012 is a stand-alone machine. However, due to the machines’ high availability the metal-cutting industry increasingly uses them in linked mode combined with automation.
