For the realization of the articles of Eurotec’s next issues, I visited many companies and each time, I have discovered deeply passionate men and women proud of their work. In many cases, I am sure that they would have refused to exchange their job against a winning lottery ticket if they would have to abandon their professional activity to receive the ticket.

Isn’t this fascinating? Speaking of passion, it is one of the common elements between all these interlocutors: They are intensely passionate and love what they do. Moreover, several leaders explained me their love affair with their business or their work. Aren’t they lucky to get up every morning and say "Wow, a new exciting day begins?".
Is microtechnology a special case? I grew up in the world of Microtechnology and such thoughts have always fed my daily life. But finally, it is not exclusive to this area, even if "touching the micron" seems to encourage passion. I am sure that all areas of activities generate such thinking… Yes, even in finance or butchery (random examples).
Is passion enough? Unfortunately, passion alone is not enough and the managers of these companies have shown me that at least two other elements are essential to achieve success. First: skills and know-how. All of these enthusiasts are very skilled in what they do (both as men and/or companies). They are not only good in their activities, but they look to improve it daily… and this evolution is also part of the points that feed their passion. In fact, I have never met any passionate guy that is incompetent in the field of his passion… but is that possible?
The economic factor The two preceding elements are very important, but if nobody can buy your products or services to their fair value, then you bet, you’d better win lottery. All these companies and all those responsible therefore have a real marketing approach to understand the needs and desires of their customers, even if is not formalized under the marketing label.
Luck? Then are all these companies just lucky to include passionate collaborators and leaders? Just lucky to employ staff whose skills meet their passion? Just lucky to offer products and services that meet the needs of the markets? With so many luck, they still don’t play lottery. The luck factor certainly is to be taken into account, but if the three above mentioned elements are developed, it is not even necessary to be lucky.
Do you agree with me? Are you living a beautiful love story with your company? Or on the contrary do you find my editorial completely stupid? Do not hesitate to share your ideas and thoughts, we will post them online here and who knows, maybe your love story will be published in an upcoming issue of Eurotec? Send your e-mails to: [email protected] with EDITO 375 as subject line.
I am pleased to discover them.
