Microtechnology means of production at Siams 2014

November 2013

Once again, companies offering microtechnology means of production will meet from May 6 to 9, 2014 during the Siams, their biennial meeting. As of today registered exhibitors promise indeed an event of the same level of the previous edition. I.e. about 450 exhibitors and around 15,000 visitors, mostly professionals and specialists of the branch.

At yesterday’s press conference Laurence Gygax, Customer relations and Francis Koller, Director, answered many questions about Siams, the industry and the economic situation.

Located in the heart of the Jura-region, Siams is born to meet the specific needs expressed by the industry and has become the ideal platform for a large regular group of specialists as well as for newcomers in the field.

On the right tracks... In 2012, exhibitors from French-speaking Jura (Jura, Jura-bernois, Neuchâtel) accounted for a third of the companies presenting their products or their services at Siams while nearly 200 companies came from German-speaking Switzerland. Many specialists of microtechnology from the South of Germany and Franche-Comté, regions historically devoted to these activities, also took part in the trade-fair. The 2014 edition will be absolutely in the same line.

Precise positioning Today, Siams focuses on its core values: the means of production for microtechnology and proximity. Human contact and industrial pragmatism characterize Siams since its inception. This precise positioning linked to the exceptional concentration of specialists of manufacturing technologies for ’very small parts’ completes the specificity of Siams and consolidates its legitimacy as trade-show for microtechnology.

Running a satisfaction survey As part of its strategic development, the specialised trade show Siams wished to learn more about the expectations of its exhibitors. To the question of why the Siams’ organisers have decided to carry out such a study while the figures seem to indicate that the next edition is already destined to success, Mr. Francis Koller, administrator and director of the show tells us: “Subscriptions for 2014 are at the level of 2012 at the same period before the exhibition; we are pleased with the developments. Nevertheless we want to organize the best possible show for our exhibitors and our visitors and we wanted to learn more about their needs and their wishes”.

The results of this study will be known later this year; we’ll come back on those in a next issue of Eurotec and discuss the information and consequences with Mr. Koller. ***

Meanwhile you can read the article about satisfaction surveys realised with Mediactif in Vevey, the company who is doing it for Siams here: Satisfaction surveys: the seven deadly sins. (From Eurotec 391 to be released this Friday).
