MX-520, new 5-axis vertical machining centre

May 2010

In spring 2010, Matsuura, the leading Japanese manufacturer of quality machining centres is set to showcase its new 5-axis vertical machining centre, the MX-520. This 5-axis entry-level model was premiered at a company exhibition in Japan just a few days ago, on the occasion of the Matsuura’s 75th anniversary. Now, it is to make its Switzerland debut too.

Top quality for small batches The MX-520 from Matsuura is specially designed for the cost-effective production of one-off jobs and small series. With a built-in rotating/swivel table and 40 tool positions, this vertical machining centre is capable of machining workpieces with diameters of up to Ø520 x H350 mm and weighing up to 150kg. The MX-520 is every match for the successful 5-axis vertical centres of the MAM72 series as far as spindle speed, stability and precision are concerned.

Careful design Its uncomplicated, ergonomic, sure handling makes the MX-520 especially suitable for inexperienced operators and companies who are just entering the 5-axis machining market. The short distance between the machine door and the centre of the table affords easy access to workpieces and tools, while the broad door opening makes it easy to load the machine. Moreover, the standard Matsuura MX-520 model includes the anti-collision Intelligent Protection System and the Matsuura Intelligent Master System. The intelligent machine management software monitors the overall production process, thereby ensuring reliable operation, high product quality, simple data management and low power consumption.

“With the MX-520, we offer our customers a new machining centre that combines all the advantages of a compact, user-friendly machine with high-precision 5-axis technology. That gives customers who produce small batches and keep a keen eye on quality and cost-effectiveness, a better chance of getting their first foothold in the market for high-speed machining – with an excellent price/performance ratio,” explains Bert Kleinmann, general manager of Matsuury Machinery GmbH.
